Where can I take my Fish Tales 4×4 rental?

Unlimited miles on Hatteras Island and Ocracoke Island only.

Do I need to purchase a permit to drive on the beach?

No. An ORV (off-road vehicle) Permit is included with your rental along with a rod rack, cooler, and cooler rack.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, four legged friends are welcome. (additional charges apply)

Do I have to return the vehicle with a full tank of gas?

Tank must return full or a fee will be charged.

Can I drive on the beach at night?

Yes, but there are seasonal restrictions. During sea turtle nesting season, priority ORV ramps open at 6:30 am and close at 9:00 pm. For the latest updates visit nps.gov/caha/planyourvisit/conditions.htm

Are there places to put trash on the beach?

At the entrace to the ORV ramp there are trash receptacles, but there are not receptacles on the beach. Already remember to “Pack It In – Pack It Out” and help preserve and protect our beaches.
